A Little More About Us.

Upendo International Charity Group was founded in 2021 in Columbus, Ohio, USA, with a mission to empower newcomers to successfully integrate into American society. Our purpose is to provide essential skills and training, including English as a Second Language (ESL) and driver’s education, to enhance their quality of life and foster a smoother transition to their new community. Nestor Buzimba, former Director at I.T.M.Uvira (Institut Techniques Medical d’Uvira), a Nursing School in DRC. and Chief Nursing Officer at Emanuel Medical Center in Lilongwe Malawi, is a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Creating this organization is to help underprivileged people and alleviate the suffering of new arrivals, immigrants, and people living in extreme poverty in our communities and the world.

What Motivated Me To Help Others

After fleeing a refugee camp in Malawi and arriving in the United States in 2016, I faced numerous challenges. Finding employment was difficult, and transportation to work was an added obstacle. With no driving skills and limited financial resources, I struggled to make ends meet in North Carolina for seven months. Additionally, I faced a significant language barrier, as my English skills were limited, making it hard to communicate and navigate everyday tasks. Seeking a fresh start, my wife and I relocated to Columbus, Ohio, hoping to find better job opportunities and a new beginning. However, the language barrier continued to hinder me, making it difficult to understand complex job applications, communicate with colleagues, and access essential services. Upon arrival in Columbus, we were warmly received by a kind-hearted pastor and his wife, who generously offered us shelter in their home for two years. This act of kindness allowed us to get back on our feet and eventually find our own housing. Another compassionate pastor, an African immigrant himself, noticed my struggles with transportation and offered to teach me how to drive. He also helped me practice my English skills, enabling me to better communicate and navigate the community. This selfless act helped me gain independence and confidence. After securing a job at DHL Rodan & Field, I purchased my first car, but unfortunately, I was involved in an accident just days later. My wife and I were hospitalized for two days, but thankfully, we survived. However, my car was destroyed, and I was left with significant stress and limited driving skills. Despite these setbacks, I persevered and purchased a second vehicle. However, I continued to struggle with driving due to stress and inexperience, leading to further difficulties. Through these challenges, I have come to understand the struggles that many new immigrants face upon arriving in the United States. My dream is to assist others who are facing similar challenges, providing support and guidance to help them overcome the obstacles that I once faced, including language barriers.

Our organization is founded on the following scriptures from the Bible that we believe and are committed to follow as our guidance: Mathews 22;39 ( Love your neighbor like yourself ),Isaiah:58:10 (Feed the hungry,and help those in trouble,then your light will shine out from the darkness,and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon) and Proverbs 28:27(Whoever gives to the poor will not want,but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse).

Goals

Alleviate the suffering of people living in extreme poverty by doing the following: -Improve the lives of our community by providing them free services and essential stuff for basic life needs. -Sensitize young adults to help in the findings of the solution of community hardship -Educate and train people how to be self-sustained. -Get funds for assisting people in need in our community and in developing countries -Be the active voice of the voiceless in our community and the world as much as we can. To unite and sensibilize our communities to contribute to the development of their lives and the lives of others.

ABOUT US

Buzimba Nestor Buhinge founded Upendo International Charity Group in 2021, in Ohio, United States, in collaboration with Furaha Chikala and Superintendent Brent Thompson, who joined as Co-Founders, together laying the foundation for the organization's growth and impact.
